Over the past week, we got the news that parents and grandparents have been waiting for that vaccines are moving along and getting a timeline for our children! And as the case rates surge here in Oregon, we could not be more relieved. Our son returned to in-person school a couple of weeks ago, after playing with no other children for over a year. That’s right, he didn’t get to have in-person friends for the entire time that he was six years old. We opted for grandparents in-person and friends by Zoom and Facetime.

It took three hours, but everyone was lovely and joyful. We were all “smizing.” (Thanks Tyra Banks ;-)!)

It actually took just one week plus one year for us to get our pokes, or “Fauci ouchie,” or “halfcinated.” And, even though we waited in one of many long lines and even let our car battery die, it was still thrilling to be a part of this amazing feat of logistics at our local airport. After 4 of the longest years of the Trump sickness compounded with COVID-under-Trump/Fascism, it was just amazing to be in the midst of a grand and incredible science-based community effort.
